The work involves producing and presenting social media content that brings clarity and depth to ongoing political, security, and social developments in the region—content that explains what's happening, why it matters, and how it fits into wider regional and global dynamics.

About the Project

[comra] is an independent digital media outlet focused on global politics, imperialist power structures, and struggles across the Global South. As part of our social media and editorial output, we work with freelance producers who contribute research-driven, narrative-focused content designed to translate complex political developments into clear, accessible formats.

Social Media Producer & Presenter (East & Southeast Asia)

For these roles, we are specifically looking for producers and presenters focused on East and Southeast Asia, capable of covering ongoing political and social developments, as well as relevant historical events through social media posts, presenter projects, interviews, and written articles, in line with our editorial line and analytical approach. These are entirely remote roles, and you are welcome to apply for one or both.

This is a freelance position. You will be responsible for producing content from conceptualization to completion. Depending on your strengths, this may include:

  • Social media carousels

  • Presenting scripts on camera

  • Voice-over and presenter scripts for visual explainers

  • Short-form videos

  • Interviews

  • Written articles and analytical pieces

Who we’re looking for

We’re interested in working with experienced contributors who have:

  • A solid grasp of political and social developments in East and Southeast Asia

  • The ability to explain complex issues clearly and responsibly to a broad audience

  • Strong narrative and editorial instincts suited to social media environments

  • The ability to draw on historical context where it meaningfully informs the present

  • Confidence and clarity on camera or in voice-over delivery

  • A natural, engaging presentation style suited to short-form digital content

Fluency in local languages is not required, but it is a plus. Lived experience in the region or demonstrated academic, journalistic, or analytical expertise is also highly valued.
